You may know by now that we have been chosen as one of the main recipients of the John Saul Picnic and Vintage Fair at Castlemartyr Resort. Each year a number of charities benefit from the not for profit day which takes place on the grounds of the hotel on Monday August 3rd .
The picnic is in honour of one of Castlemartyr’s most famous sons, John Saul. Saul was an Irish horticulturalist and was born in Castlemartyr in 1819. He went on to have an influential and successful career as a highly respected horticulturalist in Washington D.C. In fact, he was responsible for the planning and development of the celebrated Mall and other public areas in Washington. His grandfather, Barnabas Saul, and father, James Saul, had worked as gardeners on Castlemartyr Estate.
We are looking for volunteers to help out at the Picnic. We are holding a volunteer evening on Thursday July 2nd, at 7pm in My Place Midleton building to begin organising for this event.
We need volunteers to cover a number of two hour shifts in Castlemartyr Resort, on the day of the picnic.
Once the shift is finished you can enjoy the rest of the day at the picnic and you will get a voucher for lunch. We will give you full details on Thursday.
We also need volunteers for other activities in the centre so if you are interested please come along on the night . We want to match your skills and interests with the needs of the centre.
Our needs include social media, administration, fund raising, youth workers, accountancy and lots of other areas.
All volunteers will be given training. We hope to make the volunteering experience as enjoyable as possible.
